Successful community engagement is about building trust, understanding and consensus. Participation is needed to reach consensus on public infrastructure investments. This requires a process that includes technical competence, honesty, integrity and good listening. These principles will create the framework for Midtown Corridor AA public participation. This will require:

  • Early and continuous participation of stakeholders
  • Reasonable availability of technical and other project information
  • Collaborative input on alternative transit improvements for the corridor and the criteria against which they will be measured and evaluated
  • Open access to the decision-making process
  • Proactive efforts to engage the public in the process, particularly  groups that are often underrepresented in public policy processes
