B Line supporting bus network
On June 14, 2025, the METRO B Line replaced Route 21, with new/modified local routes
The B Line is now in operation, providing more frequent, more reliable bus rapid transit between Minneapolis and St. Paul along Lake Street, and Marshall and Selby avenues.
To provide local transit access along portions of the corridor, service on three new or modified local bus routes 27, 38, and 72, also began on June 14.
New or modified local routes
Offers hourly service connecting Uptown Transit Station to Lake Street & Minnehaha via Lake Street and 26th/28th streets.

Provides 30-minute service from Minnetonka to Highland Park/Veterans Home, replacing routes 23 and 612. Serves Opus, Hopkins, Uptown, South Minneapolis, Highland Park/Veterans Home, with service overlapping the B Line between Excelsior Boulevard and Lyndale Avenue, primarily along Lake Street.

Route 72 (formerly Route 70):
Offers 30-minute service through St. Paul, connecting the Midway shopping area, Selby Avenue, downtown St. Paul, and Sun Ray Transit Center.

Together, the B Line and these new routes combine to provide faster trips and balance local access with improved travel times along the former Route 21 corridor.
