Facilities Maintenance

At Metro Transit, our Facilities Maintenance team plays a crucial role in keeping the region's transit system safe, clean, and running smoothly. From maintaining bus shelters and transit stations to operating essential equipment like boilers and HVAC systems, our team ensures that thousands of riders enjoy a reliable and comfortable transit experience every day.

Public Facilities Worker

Maintain and clean public facilities, transit centers, and Park & Ride facilities. Ability to operate lawn care equipment up to 24 inches wide, including push mowers, weed whips, and leaf blowers. Snow removal equipment will be used as well as industrial cleaning equipment like power washers.

Pay: Start at $24.63 per hour

Building Maintenance Technician

Facilities Technician (Special Boiler’s License)

Facilities Technicians maintain and repair Metro Transit buildings, shelters, and transit stations across the Twin Cities. Responsibilities include operating and repairing HVAC systems, boilers, lighting, and other essential facility equipment, as well as performing snow removal, landscaping, and minor construction tasks. Requires a State of Minnesota Special Boiler’s License or higher and a Class A CDL. These full-time roles offer a Monday-Friday daytime schedule – no weekends required.

Pay: Start at $40.70 per hour, $4,000 hiring bonus.

Facilities Technician (Chief Boiler’s License)

Facilities Technicians maintain and repair Metro Transit buildings, shelters, and transit stations across the Twin Cities. Responsibilities include operating and repairing HVAC systems, boilers, lighting, and other essential facility equipment, as well as performing snow removal, landscaping, and minor construction tasks. Requires a State of Minnesota Special Boiler’s License or higher and a Class A CDL. These full-time roles offer a Monday-Friday daytime schedule – no weekends required.

Pay: Start at $41.69 per hour, $4,000 hiring bonus!

Janitorial Worker

Janitorial workers provide janitorial services to maintain a clean and neat appearance of buildings and transit locations across the Twin Cities. Responsibilities include performing daily cleaning duties in indoor and outdoor environments, waxing floors, cleaning carpeting, ordering supplies and maintaining a well-stocked organized closet. Requires two years of previous janitorial experience and a valid driver’s license.

Leadership & Supervisory Positions

Public Facilities Maintenance Supervisor (Weekday)

Supervise a group of maintenance technicians and oversee maintenance-related expenditures for all of Metro Transit's public facilities within the seven-county metropolitan area in a timely and cost-efficient manner. This is a weekday shift position, working Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Public Facilities Maintenance Supervisor (Evenings, Weekends, and Weekdays)

Supervise a group of maintenance technicians and oversee maintenance-related expenditures for all of Metro Transit's public facilities within the seven-county metropolitan area in a timely and cost-efficient manner.  This recruitment is for multiple positions for the following shifts: Friday through Monday 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Monday through Friday from 4 a.m. to noon; or Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
