Quarterly service changes begin Saturday, June 14

    

On June 14, Metro Transit will make changes to transit service throughout the metro. As always, these quarterly service changes are being made to ensure we’re providing reliable service that meets your needs.

These quarterly changes are also informed by Network Now, a Met Council endorsed framework which incorporated customer feedback, helping strengthen our service through 2027.

Some highlights this quarter include:

  • METRO B Line opens!  
  • Route 23 & Route 612 will become new Route 38.    
  • Route 21 will be eliminated and replaced by the METRO B Line and new routes 27 and 72.  
  • Better Bus Route improvements for Route 7 will begin.   
  • Route 860 will be restored.   
  • Trip times will be adjusted on several routes to account for summer construction projects.   
  • Increased service for routes 2, 10, 54, 94, 515, 540, 542, 764, 824, and the METRO A Line

   METRO lines


METRO Green Line (PDF)

  • Trip times will be adjusted between Dale St. and Victoria St. stations to better reflect current travel times.
     

METRO A Line (PDF)

  • Saturday and Sunday frequency will be improved to every 10 minutes from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.  
     
  • Weekday northbound trip will be added at 11:14 p.m. from 46th St. Station.    
     
  • Trip times will be adjusted for all days of the week to improve schedule consistency. 
     

METRO B Line (PDF)

  • The new METRO B Line will begins service, replacing Route 21.   
     
  • Service will operate between France Ave. and Union Depot on Lake St., Marshall Ave., Snelling Ave., and Selby Ave.

ROUTE 2 (PDF)

  • Frequency will improve to every 10 minutes between 7:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. on weekdays, and 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. on weekends.  
     
  • Frequency after 10 p.m. will improve to every 30 minutes on all days.  
     
  • Two westbound school day only trips serving the U of M have been removed due to increased frequency on the route overall. 



ROUTE 7 (PDF)

  • Better Bus Route changes will begin on route which adjusts routing, trip times, frequency and stop locations on entire route for improved reliability and experience. 
     
  • Route will run on 26th Ave. in Seward neighborhood and on Washington Ave. in downtown Minneapolis and the North Loop.
     
  • Route will no longer run on N. 1st St. in the North Loop.
     
  • Frequency will improve to every 30 minutes on Saturday and Sunday between 6:15 a.m. and 8:15 p.m.
     
  • New northbound trip added on weekdays arriving downtown at 5 a.m.
     
  • New midnight trips, in both directions on all days of the week, on 6th St. at Nicollet Mall for southbound trips and on 7th St. at Nicollet Mall for northbound trips.
     

ROUTE 10 (PDF)

  • Frequency will improve to every 10 minutes on Saturday and Sunday between 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.  
     
  • Trip time adjustments all days of the week to improve schedule consistency between service days.
     

ROUTE 11 (PDF)

  • All trips currently beginning or ending at Grand & 29th will now extend to Columbia Heights Transit Center.   
     
  • Frequency north of 29th Ave. NE will improve to every 15 minutes on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6:15 p.m.  
     
  • Evening 30-minute frequency will extend to approximately midnight on all days.   
     
  • On weekdays, the last northbound trip will leave Washburn High School at 3:45 p.m.

     

ROUTE 21

  • Route will be eliminated and replaced by the METRO B Line and new Routes 27 and 72. 

     

ROUTE 23

  • Route will be replaced by new Route 38.
     

ROUTE 27 (PDF)

  • New Route 27 will offer service from Uptown Transit Station along Lake St., 26th St., and 28th St., terminating at Lake St. and Minnehaha Ave.  
     
  • Route will have 1 hour frequency all days of the week and weekend.  
     
  • Route will provide school day only service directly from South High School, departing at 3:20 p.m.


ROUTE 38 (PDF)

  • Routes 23 and 612 will become Route 38.  
     
  • Frequency will improve to every 30 minutes all days of the week.  
     
  • Trips beginning or ending at Opportunity Partners (612D) will be extended to Bren Rd. for all trips (38G). 
     
  • Service will no longer run along Bryant Ave., 36th St., and Hennepin Ave., and will instead utilize Lyndale Ave. and Lake St. 
     

ROUTE 54 (PDF)

  • Sunday frequency on West 7th St. will improve to every 15 minutes between 9:30 a.m. and 9 p.m.   
     
  • New Sunday service on E. 7th St. will be added every 30 minutes between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. 
     
  • All trips between Little Canada Transit Center and Shoreview Community Center will be offered on the 62C branch. Route 62E branch will be eliminated.


ROUTE 65 (PDF)

  • Trip times will be adjusted for all days due to delay of Dale St. construction.
     

ROUTE 70

  • Route will be replaced by new Route 72.
     

ROUTE 71 (PDF)

  • Trip times will be adjusted all days to offer 30-minute service to Concord Exchange & Armour Ave. on weekdays and Saturdays, and new hourly service south of downtown on Sundays.   
     
  • The 71A, 71C, and 71E branches will be eliminated to simplify the route. The 71B and 71D branches will continue to provide service to these areas of the route.


ROUTE 72 (PDF)

  • New Route 72 will replace Route 70 service east of downtown and will replace Route 21 between Midway shopping center, Selby Ave. and downtown St. Paul.  
     
  • Route will operate every 30 minutes all days of the week. 
     

ROUTE 94 (PDF)

  • New weeknight service will be added every 30-minutes between 7 p.m. and midnight.  
     
  • New Saturday service will be added every 30-minutes between 7 a.m. and midnight.   
     
  • New Sunday service will be added every 30-minutes between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m.

ROUTE 515 (PDF)

  • Frequency will improve to every 15 minutes from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturdays.   
     
  • Frequency will improve to every 20 minutes from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays.  
     
  • Trip time adjustments all days of the week to improve schedule consistency between service days.      
          
  • Schedule times will be adjusted to better reflect current travel times. 


ROUTE 540 (PDF)

  • Routing in Normandale Lake office park will change slightly to interline with ending trips becoming Route 542 trips for improved access to destinations.   
              
  • Route will no longer operate on 12th Ave. and American Blvd; the 77th St. underpass will be used to connect trips to 24th Ave. and Mall of America.  
                 
  • Sunday service will increase from every 90 minutes to every 30 to 60 minutes.       
         
  • Trip times will be adjusted for consistent daily schedules. 
     

ROUTE 542 (PDF)

  • Routing in Normandale Lake office park will change slightly with ending trips becoming Route 540 trips for improved access to destinations.    
                
  • New midday service will be added on weekdays every 30 minutes.

  • Route 612 will be replaced by new Route 38.

  • One new morning and afternoon trip will be added one hour earlier to serve downtown work shifts starting at 7:00 a.m. and ending at 3:30 p.m.

  • One new morning and afternoon trip will be added one hour earlier to serve downtown work shifts starting at 7:00 a.m. and ending at 3:30 p.m. 

ROUTE 860 (PDF)

  • Route 860 service will be restored with two trips each direction. 
     
  • The route will not directly serve the Lafayette Park area. Customers will need to transfer with Route 64 in downtown St. Paul.
