Join us June 18 for a rail anniversary celebration

Twenty years ago in June, our region celebrated the opening of what was then known as the Hiawatha Light Rail Transit line; ten years ago in June, we gathered to celebrate the reestablishment of a rail connection between Minneapolis and St. Paul with the opening of the METRO Green Line.

To celebrate and memorialize these investments – and to look forward to the future expansion of our METRO network – we invite you to join us for a rail anniversary celebration on Tuesday, June 18, at Target Field Station.

There will be lawn games, music, and giveaways at the station from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and a short program at 5:30 p.m. A Twins game begins at 6:40 p.m., and to continue the celebration inside the ballpark a Metro Transit representative has been invited to throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

We encourage you to take the train to the game, and to show your support by wearing blue or green.
