E Line Project

E Line Draft Corridor Plan

What is the E Line?

The METRO E Line is a planned bus rapid transit (BRT) line that will provide faster and more reliable transit service in the Route 6 corridor along University Avenue/4th Street, Hennepin Avenue, and France Avenue from the University of Minnesota to Southdale.

BRT is a package of transit enhancements that adds up to a faster trip and an improved experience on Metro Transit’s busiest bus routes. Watch a video about BRT service.

What’s in the Draft Corridor Plan?

  • BRT station facilities and service characteristics

  • E Line routing

  • Planned station locations: intersections planned for stations and planned locations of platforms within each intersection. Once approved, this plan will set the locations for stations moving forward.

  • More information on BRT station facilities and service characteristics

What are the next steps?

The comment period for the Draft Corridor Plan is now open until October 31. View the Corridor Plan or sign up for E Line updates to receive project  news and notifications of future opportunities to provide input.

After the Draft Corridor Plan comment period, Metro Transit will develop a Recommended Corridor Plan based on feedback we receive, and ask for public feedback again later this winter. We will seek Metropolitan Council approval of a Final Corridor Plan in early 2022. Project engineering will begin after approval of the final plan. Construction is planned to start in 2024.
