10 Questions with Metro Transit - Katherine

Posted by Drew Johnson | Oct. 2, 2025

We hear and learn from our actual customers as they answer our "10 Questions with Metro Transit!" Today we meet Katherine!

How long have you been riding the bus or train?
When I lived in other countries, I rode transit everywhere (as did everyone else). But I only started taking transit in the Twin Cities a few years ago, when I learned more about transportation's huge impact on climate change.

How often do you ride?
Every week!

Favorite route(s)?
I love the Blue Line because it has the right of way at intersections and it's easy to bring my bike onboard.

Why do you ride transit?
It's a more energy-efficient way to get around in a city, it keeps me active and aware of other people, and I don't have to think about parking.

What do you wish “first-timers” knew?
It's safe—and the more we all use it the better it will be!

Favorite destination?
The Capitol, to lobby for more transit funding.

What do we (Metro Transit) get right?
The drivers and fare-enforcement teams I've encountered are kind and patient.

What can we do to improve?
Our cities need more bus rapid transit, more and better bus frequency, and an all-electric bus fleet.

Favorite onboard memory?
I realized at the last minute that a very large painting I needed to transport to a gallery didn't fit in my car. No problem: I brought it on the bus instead!

Favorite movie about transit?
Spirited Away. Nothing beats the feeling of that train scene.
