10 Questions with Metro Transit - Blue

We hear and learn from real customers as they answer our "10 Questions with Metro Transit!" Today we meet Blue!

How long have you been riding the bus or train?
Since I moved here in 2012!

How often do you ride?
At least twice a week.

Favorite route(s)?
The 4 is my usual, but I also like sightseeing on the Green Line.

Why do you ride transit?
I don’t drive, and I travel out of state for work several times a year, so I’m thankful I can get to most places in the Cities by transit, including the train station and airport. I also have a serious science fiction paperback habit, so I always have a book in my bag for my commute.

What do you wish “first-timers” knew?
Use the text message service (NexTrip) to check for arriving buses by looking for the stop number on that stop’s information sign. It’s accurate and reliable for helping you figure out connections and routes.

Favorite destination?
Lake and Hennepin. I volunteer at Joyce Uptown Food Shelf down the street and then double back for an iced tea and a glance inside the bookstore Magers & Quinn.

What do we (Metro Transit) get right?
It’s easy to travel with luggage. There’s always room for a roller bag, and the drivers are great about lowering the ramps for me when I’ve got something heavy.

What can we do to improve?
I would love higher frequency service, especially on the suburban routes, and heaters/shelters at more stops would make those routes much more comfortable for people traveling when the weather gets rough, too.

Favorite onboard memory?
Hopping on the Green Line with my fellow concert-goers when the show let out at midnight. We filled an entire train car!

Favorite movie about transit?
The train scene in “Spirited Away” is one of my favorites.
