Tips for attending events at U.S. Bank Stadium via transit

Metro Transit offers these tips for a smooth experience traveling to and from games and concerts:

  • Check train and bus schedules before you leave and plan your trip accordingly.
  • Arrive early and consider staying a little later until crowds have dispersed.

The former Event 6-Hour Pass has been super-sized and is now an All-Day Pass. You’re covered from time of purchase until 2 a.m. the next day for the same price as a roundtrip. No standing in line for your return ticket!

Buy your pass at an A Line or rail station ticket machine (some stations have ticket booths prior to large events).

You can purchase All-Day Passes to Vikings games and other events online in advance by credit card. Print out your pass or send it to your mobile device.

Consider meeting up with friends before the event and staying downtown afterward; Meet Minneapolis offers great ideas for downtown entertainment. To board trains to downtown Minneapolis, cross the pedestrian bridge.

  • Supplemental Blue Line buses leave from 4th Street and Chicago Avenue to take customers non-stop from U.S. Bank Stadium back to Fort Snelling, 28th Avenue and Mall of America ONLY. Look for signs directing you to these buses if you prefer this option. NOTE: extra buses will only operate for events of 40,000+ attendance. (See map at right, click to enlarge.)
  • Expect to wait in line after the event. Metro Transit puts every available train in service after large events but must allow several minutes between them to avoid tying up intersections in downtown Minneapolis and on Hiawatha and University avenues. Be prepared ahead of time for weather conditions as you will be standing in the elements pre- and post-event.
  • Walking to another station won’t get you on the train faster. Only regularly-scheduled trains will allow customers to board at downtown Minneapolis stations after large events. Extra trains will be marked “NOT IN SERVICE” and will not open their doors until they reach U.S. Bank Stadium.
  • Consider leaving before the event ends to beat the crowds to buses and trains if you must get home at a certain time.
  • If you work downtown, take transit to work before weekday events. If you don’t have a Go-To Card or pass, make sure to buy an All-Day Pass on your way to work so you’re covered on the way home. You won’t pay for parking and you won’t fight traffic!
