Metro Transit, the City of St. Paul, and Ramsey County have partnered to resurface Selby Avenue between Snelling Avenue and Dale Street. Selby Ave. and segments of the METRO B Line and Route 72 will be impacted by this project. The entire process is expected to last 5 to 6 weeks, impacting customers, businesses, and residents along Selby Ave.
METRO B Line and Route 72 buses will be detouring onto Marshall Ave. There will be no ticket machines or Go-To Card readers on Marshall Ave. between Snelling Ave. and Dale St. during the detour. B Line customers can purchase their fare on the app or pay their fare at their destination station during the construction period.
Parking Restrictions: Both sides of Selby Ave. between Snelling Ave. and Dale St. and the first 2 spots north and south of Selby Ave. at every cross street will not have parking available.
Selby Ave. traffic and parking impacts:
Phase 1: Now – May 1
Community may encounter partial lane closures due to pre-construction work in the corridor.
Phase 2: May 11 – June 1
- Beginning as early as May 11, on-street parking will be unavailable on Selby Avenue between Snelling Ave. and Dale St., and the community will experience full lane closures as the road is prepared for resurfacing and the resurfacing work is completed.
- Lane and parking restrictions will be removed as paving progresses through the work area.
- Hamline Ave. between Selby and Ashland avenues will also be on detour during this time. (Routing as follows: Hamline > Summit > Snelling > Marshall).
- The connection between Ayd Mill Rd. and Selby will be on detour (lasting approximately 1 day).
- This work is expected to be complete by June 1 (weather dependent).
Phase 3: June 1 – June 11
Roadway striping will start 10 days after paving is completed, and may begin earlier than June 1 depending on weather. Some lane shifts will be required to paint the road centerline and crosswalks, but no lane closures are expected. Parking will be restricted on Selby Avenue between Lexington Pkwy. and Dale St. for 2 to 3 nights to allow work to be completed.
Local access to businesses and residential dwellings will be maintained along the corridor, apart from on-street parking.
