Track & Signals Phase 2
Buses replace METRO Blue Line trains between Target Field and Mall of America stations from June 29 - Aug. 19.
Note:
METRO Green Line stations will also have replacement bus service via the Blue Line bus during segments of the June 29 – Aug. 19 Blue Line maintenance period:
- July 1 – 26: Buses replace Green Line trains between Target Field and West Bank stations
- Aug. 16 – 19: Buses replace Green Line trains between Target Field and West Bank stations
*Dates and affected stations are subject to change
After 20+ years the Blue Line signal system needs to be updated. As part of this project, there will be a brand-new signal system that will improve reliability and will keep trains moving even in unusual instances (such as stalled trains or emergency track repairs). Franklin Avenue Station Renovation
The Franklin Avenue Station renovation project is part of the Renew the Blue system restoration initiative and will help it remain a safe, reliable, and affordable transit option for many years to come. The designs will prioritize the use of durable and energy-efficient materials which will help extend the life of station's investment and increase its sustainability. The project also will modernize the station, enhancing its service to the community through improved accessibility, a better customer experience, reduced maintenance, and increased connectivity. As part of this effort, we are working with the community to assure the station's design reflects the neighborhood and the people it serves.

Franklin Avenue Station Open House #1 Recap
In December 2025, we welcomed nearly 70 community members to our open house at the Minneapolis American Indian Center to learn more about the upcoming Franklin Avenue Station Renovation project. Attendees shared thoughtful and meaningful feedback around station design, safety, and accessibility—insights that will play an important role in shaping the next phase of this project.
We appreciate and thank everyone who took the time to participate, ask questions, and voice their priorities as we work toward creating a safer, more welcoming, and more accessible station for all.
