Placemaking and engagement form

Artists will choose a bus stop from the list provided, engage the surrounding community, and submit designs for the bus shelter based on that engagement.

See a sample proposal.

Artists must define their relationship with the bus stop or the community in which the stop resides. Artists will submit a community engagement plan, budget, resumé, and work samples to be reviewed by an Art Selection Panel. If selected, the artist will implement engagement and produce print-ready images in a template provided. All printing and installation will be handled by Metro Transit. Submittal deadline is ongoing until all available opportunities for the year are assigned. Submittals will be reviewed tri-annually. Deadline dates are March 31, June 30, and September 30.

Community engagement plan

Artists will outline a community engagement plan and lead the community engagement process. Metro Transit recognizes traditional engagement methods may be altered, changed, or not possible as a result of COVID-19. Artists are encouraged to think of innovative ways to solicit community engagements that are founded in equity and accessibility. Artists should plan on working with a local community organization or otherwise engage with the bus stop area's residents, businesses, or transit riders to create awareness of the project.

Budget

Artists will submit a budget that includes costs for the community engagement, identifying material and labor costs and the cost of designing the images for the shelter templates. Cost of printing and installation on shelter are covered by Metro Transit and do not need to be included in the budget.
