Join us for Open Trails to the Rails on May 9

We look forward to seeing you out on the trails on May 9 for a day of celebration, connection and community!

 
Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
11 a.m. – 12 p.m., West Lake Street Station

- Hear from community leaders and partners during a brief program

- Celebrate the occasion with an official ribbon cutting

Community Ride to the Ceremony

- Departs at 10 a.m. from 8th Ave S, Hopkins, MN 55343 in downtown Hopkins  

- Stops at Louisiana Avenue Station trail access at 10:15 a.m. to pick up additional riders

- Continues to West Lake Street Station for the ceremony

Community events at light rail stations: 12 – 2 p.m.
- Community organizations will be featured at three Green Line Extension station areas. Each location will offer snacks, water and restrooms.

Additional Activities: 

- The Depot Coffee House:  Open from 7 a.m. – 2 p.m. Stop by this local trail hub for food and drinks for purchase.
- The Minnesota Food Truck Festival: Happening on Historic Mainstreet in Downtown Hopkins from  9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Featuring 40+ vendors and live music throughout the day. Access via trail to Downtown Hopkins Station, then follow 8th Avenue south to Mainstreet.

How to Get There: 
Parking near station sites is very limited and is typically used by nearby residents and businesses. We strongly encourage attendees to arrive via the regional trail system.

The stations are connected by the Cedar Lake Regional Trail, with access points from the Minnesota River Bluffs, Kenilworth Trail, and Midtown Greenway. For additional route planning and train information, visit the Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota.

West Lake Street Station: The B Line runs every 10-12 minutes throughout most of Saturday. Exit at the West Lake Street stop, then walk east along West Lake Street to Market Plaza.  Continue to Excelsior Boulevard and follow it to Abbott Avenue..

Louisiana Avenue: Street parking is available south of the station on Oxford Avenue. Please note that the light rail station parking lot will not be open for public parking.

The Hopkins Depot: Limited parking is available at the Depot for trail users and Depot customers.

Downtown Hopkins Station: Bus route 38G runs every 30 minutes on Saturdays and stops on Excelsior Boulevard, approximately two blocks from the station.
