How did you come to work at Metro Transit and what do you do?
When I was looking for a new city and state to explore, a friend in Minnesota convinced me to apply to be a bus operator at Metro Transit. Two years later, I moved into a new position as a supervisor in the Transit Control Center. The staff here are so welcoming and help you to achieve your goals. I plan to continue to strive for success within Metro Transit and hopefully someday move into management.
What are your favorite activities when you're working or "on the clock"?
What I enjoy most about the job is communicating with operators and fellow supervisors. When an operator calls in, I'm on the other end of the line. I can help them with an emergency, schedule adherence, any questions they may have. I love our conversations and learning about the different backgrounds and experiences of the people I work with.
What are your favorite activities when you're not working or "off the clock"?
I was a performer for more than 15 years. A lot of my time outside of work is now spent dancing, listening to music to create choreography, and assisting with creative visuals for performances. And because dance will always be a passion of mine, I hold classes around Minneapolis at local dance studios, helping students hone and improve their abilities.
