Thanks for your interest in joining Metro Transit as a bus operator! As of April 20, the expected start date for new operator training is mid-May into June. We encourage you to apply now – applications are reviewed as they are submitted. We are also hiring other key positions! See a list of all current openings.

Safety is key for all employees and we provide our drivers with smart features, training, and broader assets that improve safety: including driver seat barriers and the Transit Control Center, which monitors all bus operations using GPS-based technology. The Metro Transit Police Department, with patrol officers and Community Service Officers regularly riding transit to interact with drivers and customers, respond to and investigate all crimes that are reported on buses, light rail, commuter trains, facilities and rights-of-way throughout the eight-county region.

The technology provided to our drivers (and customers) keeps our drivers focused on providing a great transit experience. Our mobile app and Go-To Cards allow our drivers and riders a safe and prompt fare payment experience rather than fussing with change or cash and coins. And our increasingly green fleet of both hybrid and electric buses make driving for Metro Transit a customer and future-focused career!
