Metro Transit’s Materials Management Support Facility will be located at 755 Industrial Blvd. NE in Minneapolis near the intersection of Broadway St. NE and Hwy. 280. The warehouse will be large enough to accommodate all Metro Transit warehouse functions in one location, eliminating the need for separate hubs for bus and rail materials that operate today. It is expected to accommodate future growth with a gross building area of more than 175,000 square feet and 32-feet high ceilings.
Metro Transit will improve the existing structure for transit purposes. The 10-acre site includes 100 parking stalls, 20 trailer spaces, and a rear-dock loading/unloading area adequate for warehousing uses.
The Materials Management Support Facility timeline includes design in 2026, construction in 2026-2027, and start of operations in 2028.
Title VI Analysis
A facility siting equity analysis was completed in accordance with Metro Transit’s Title VI policy. The quantitative analysis involved a comparison of demographics within a quarter mile of all sites considered and demographics within a comparison area containing all parcels around the Twin Cities region that met the minimum criteria for site selection. The quantitative analysis has determined that the selected site is not expected to result in any disparate impacts on Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) populations or low-income populations.
