46th Street Station Public Art

Each station along the METRO Blue Line not only has public art but each architectural design team included an artist. This station was designed by:

Meyer Scherer & Rockcastle, architects
Karen Wirth, architectural design team artist

The sloped roof form, colors, materials and art images reflect the neighborhoods and the market heritage of Hiawatha Avenue.

Untitled (turtles and waves) by Cliff Garten

A brown bronze representation of water on the soffit runs much of the length of the station and ends in a bright blue turtle with a pine tree etched on its back. This happens at both platforms on each side of the tracks.
