I-35W construction - Ride it out with us! Know how to navigate your way to, through and from downtown during the ongoing I-35W construction project. All road traffic will be affected but we will minimize stress by getting you downtown and back on the bus or the Blue Line. Many routes will have transit advantages throughout the project, making the move from a car to a bus or train a simple decision. Riding with Metro Transit has advantages! Service levels will increase up to 40% for affected routes; with standby buses and new trips added during morning and evening rush hours Rush hour bus-only lanes on Park and Portland avenues Northbound HOV lane access all the way to 31st Street with exclusive access to exits at 31st Street Multiple Park & Rides within the corridor Free Wi-Fi on buses and light rail What do I do as a regular bus rider? 1. Know your route detour and any changes to where you board. Most bus detours are expected to begin in June 9.* Some route detours, including Route 23, started in March. *Detour date is subject to change. See the map to the right to see which routes will be directed onto neighborhood streets. Most I-35W routes will be diverted onto local streets at 31st Street in Minneapolis. Metro Transit, the City of Minneapolis and MnDOT are working together to increase transit speed and reliability through the construction zone. Additional service will be added to Routes 133, 135, 146, 156, 467, 535, 552, 553, 554, 558, 578 & 597. NEW! Route 535 Weekend Service - Route 535, the future METRO Orange line, now has 30-minute service on the weekend between downtown and Bloomington Transit Center. View the schedule here. Try alternate work strategies during the work week Some alternatives are: Starting work earlier or later than usual. Earlier and later express bus trips are being added. Work from home or remote office at least one day a week. Use your bike along with a Metro Transit route. All buses and trains have free bike racks. First time riders We anticipate many new customers on either detoured bus service or the Blue Line during the I-35W construction project and we are here to help!
