Construction of the METRO G Line bus rapid transit (BRT) project is scheduled to begin in Fall 2026. This 11.5-mile corridor will connect neighborhoods and key destinations along Rice and Robert Streets, running from the Little Canada Transit Station to the Dakota County Northern Service Center in West St. Paul.

G Line station construction is being coordinated with other projects in the area: Construction is underway at Rice and Maryland, Rice & Cook, and Rice & Front stations in coordination with Ramsey County's Rice Street Reconstruction project.
What to expect during construction
In addition to stations, G Line construction activities will also include installation of fiber optic communication infrastructure and construction of additional pedestrian, traffic signals, and intersection improvements. Bikeway improvements are also included at some stations that are part of coordinated projects led by partner agencies.
Work in the corridor will include station construction, utility work, pavement and intersection improvements, and traffic signal changes.
Expect temporary lane restrictions and marked detours for traffic.
Pedestrian access will remain for business and residences.

Full lane closures will occur for up to 21 days at certain stations. Only one direction of traffic will be closed at a time, with additional restrictions for longer time periods.
