Route 14 – Better Bus Routes
Route 14 is a local bus route providing service from 66th St. in Richfield through downtown Minneapolis to Robbinsdale Transit Center, primarily along Bloomington Ave., West Broadway, and 6th and 7th streets through downtown Minneapolis.
Metro Transit is improving service on Route 14, effective June 13. In addition to general improvements, proposed Route 14 changes include:
- Routing changes to speed up travel and improve schedule reliability
- Map of proposed stop and routing changes
- Restructured/simplified routing in Crystal, Golden Valley, and Robbinsdale
- All trips will remain on West Broadway between Golden Valley Rd. and Robbinsdale Transit Center
- Shift southbound trips to operate on 8th St. in downtown
- Trips in both directions will operate on Hennepin Ave. between Washington Ave. and 7th & 8th streets
- All non-school trips start/end at 66th St. and Richfield Pkwy. in Richfield
- Service in Richfield will shift to Richfield Pkwy. between 63rd and 66th streets
- Improve service to every 15 minutes midday and rush hours on weekdays
- Improve late-night frequency to every 30 minutes
- Route 48 is a new local route that will replace Route 14D on Noble Ave., 36th Ave. N, Douglas Dr., and Duluth/Golden Valley Rd. The route will continue from Golden Valley Rd. to Penn Ave., Glenwood Ave. and into downtown Minneapolis. Trips will operate hourly all days of the week.
- Consolidating bus stops for up to quarter-mile spacing to increase trip efficiency
- Adjusting the schedule
- Expanding the no-parking zone to ensure buses can fully pull to the curb at the bus stop
- Installing concrete pads to improve accessibility for customers
- Installing new shelters at qualifying bus stops
Service eliminations:
- Existing routes 14D, 14G, and 14N will be eliminated.
Alternate service will be available on Route 48.
There will be no alternate service for the eliminated segment on 36th Ave. between Noble Ave. and France Ave.
- Non-school trips on Route 14E will be eliminated.
- Alternate service is available on routes 22, 38, and 46.
- Service to Ramp B/5th St. Transit Center will be eliminated.
