Transit Advantages Bus Lane Safety

Bus lanes

Bus lanes and transitways are generally created by adding new transit lanes, repurposing traffic lanes, or using parking lanes for transit use, either for part of the day or all day. Metro Transit works with roadway authorities (cities, counties, and MnDOT) to implement bus lanes based on a combination of factors, including transit volume and demand, the potential to reduce total person delay, and traffic patterns.
