Title: Old Scrolls

Two historic bus scrolls displayed in front of a graphic of old bus photos. Located in the Heywood Garage Addition, an area with restricted access.
With the construction of a new bus driver’s breakroom, associated offices, and locker rooms attached to the Heywood bus garage, Metro Transit decided to take a few historic objects and put them on display. These scrolls used to be visible at the top front of a bus. The scroll would be turned by the driver as they approached a new stop. The scroll would display the name of the upcoming stop. These scrolls were eventually replaced with electronic signs.
The vinyl graphic backdrop to the scrolls was created from some of Metro Transit’s historic photos and maps by Metro Transit Graphic Designer Missy Dodge. Printing and installation of vinyl graphic was done by Big Ink. The display mounts for the scrolls were designed by JPFA, an art moving and museum display company. Concept and coordination was by Metro Transit’s Molly Ellis, construction project manager, and Mark Granlund, public art administrator.
