Buses at the Minnesota State Fair Transit Hub.

Express bus service returns to 95th Avenue Park & Ride in Blaine

Fairgoers can avoid congestion and ride in comfort to and from the Great Minnesota Get-Together by taking Metro Transit.

State Fair Express Buses will run every 30 minutes all day, every day between the State Fair Transit Hub, on the west side of the fairgrounds, and the locations listed below. All State Fair Express Buses bypass congestion on roads surrounding the fairgrounds by using the University of Minnesota Transitway.

  • 95th Ave. Park & Ride, Blaine (new!)
  • I-394 & Co. Rd. 73 Park & Ride, Minnetonka
  • 30th Ave. Park & Ride, Bloomington
  • Cottage Grove Park & Ride, Cottage Grove

State Fair Express Bus service begins at 9 a.m. on weekdays and at 8 a.m. on weekends and Labor Day. The final State Fair Express Buses will depart the fairgrounds at midnight each day except for Labor Day, when the final buses will depart at 11 p.m.

Fairgoers using State Fair Express Buses are encouraged to purchase roundtrip, $5 tickets in advance using Metro Transit’s app. Tickets can also be purchased online or on-site for $6 cash (no change available). Parking at express bus Park & Rides is free.

In addition to State Fair Express Buses, fairgoers can get to the fairgrounds on the METRO A Line and Route 3. Service will be closely monitored to ensure buses on these routes are departing at regular intervals. Among other service improvements taking effect on Saturday, Aug. 19, A Line buses will begin running every 10 minutes from noon to 6:30 p.m. on weekdays. Route 3 buses run every 15 minutes throughout the day.

Fairgoers traveling on regular routes are encouraged to purchase an All-Day Pass in advance using the Metro Transit app. An All-Day Pass can be used for unlimited rides until 2 a.m. on the date after purchase.

Take transit to other upcoming events

Metro Transit has successfully served several large summer events, including two Taylor Swift concerts at U.S. Bank Stadium. In addition to the State Fair, transit is a great way to get to these and other upcoming special events:

  • Minnesota Vikings vs. Tennessee Titans, U.S. Bank Stadium, Saturday, Aug. 19
  • Minnesota United vs. Seattle Sounders, Allianz Field, Sunday, Aug. 2

When necessary, additional service will be added to accommodate post-event demand.
