Minneapolis Public Schools Student Pass

The Student Pass program is a transit pass available to all Minneapolis Public Schools high school students. The pass allows for unlimited rides on city buses and light rail every day of the week between 5 a.m. and 10 p.m. for high school students, and between 5 a.m. and 9 p.m. for middle school students.

Metro Transit adds extra bus service to accommodate the increased demand during school start and end times. These trips are also open to the public. For information about safety on transit, visit Safety & Security Action Plan.

Getting ready for your ride

To find your closest transit stops and schedules, use the Trip Planner at metrotransit.org or on the Metro Transit app and enter your home address and name of your school. Search the schedule for a weekday arrival time at least 15-30 minutes before the start of the school day. School staff will help students get to and from bus stops the first few weeks of school, distribute cards, and help with lost or stolen cards.

How to ride

Arrive at your stop five minutes before the bus or train is scheduled to arrive. Tap your card on the Go-To Card reader on the bus or on the METRO platform every time you ride – including each time you transfer. Learn more about how to ride.
