Priority Seating
Priority Seating is designated seats on buses and trains, usually located near the front doors, and are set aside for people who may have a harder time standing or moving while the vehicles are in motion. This can include customers with disabilities, seniors, or anyone who may need extra stability while riding.
If the seats are empty, they’re available for anyone to sit in, but if someone boards the vehicle and needs more stability, others are expected to – but not required – to offer their seat. Not all needs or disabilities are visible, so it’s important to be respectful and avoid questioning why someone may need those seats.
If you see someone who may need priority seating boarding a bus or train and you’re in the Priority Seating area, please consider standing or moving elsewhere to make seating available.
Priority Seating helps make transit rides safer, more comfortable, and more inclusive for everyone.
