Officer Rick Grates started his law enforcement career with Metro Transit Police in 2005, after serving 10 years with the Litchfield Police Department. Officer Grates works in investigations.

According to Transit Police Chief Dave Indrehus, Officer Grates has distinguished himself with his unmatched work ethic, his sense of teamwork and his unique talent of recognizing faces and remembering names.

“He is a highly effective team member and a credit to his profession and this department,” Chief Indrehus said.

Officer Brad Sporny has been a part-time Metro Transit Police officer since 1994. He also works for the Minneapolis Police Department.

“Officer Sporny has a wealth of knowledge and experience and has quietly distinguished himself as a leader,” Chief Indrehus said. “His dedication to professional excellence has served to make him an invaluable asset to the agency, whether he is responding to calls, inspecting fares on the Hiawatha Line or providing pedestrian safety at special events.”
