Share the ride in a carpool or vanpool

It’s a simple idea: Two people who normally drive alone instead share the ride. That cuts in HALF the gas, parking expense, cars on the road and exhaust going into the air. If there are three or four people in the carpool, everything gets reduced even more.

In addition, carpoolers can also use freeway express lanes, qualify for the Guaranteed Ride Home program and may qualify for free or reduced-price parking, depending on their work or school location.

If you want to share the ride, Metro Transit can help match you with others who travel the same direction and time. Before you join a carpool, read the tips for a successful and worry-free rideshare experience.

Rideshare Planner – find a partner and track your trips

Simply create a commuter account or log in to an existing one and we'll help you begin sharing the ride to work, school, sporting events, concerts or any other destination in the Twin Cities area. It's up to you to contact your match using the Rideshare Planner. If you don't have a match at first, keep checking, as new potential rideshare partners are added to the list every day.

Once you create a commuter account, you'll have access to the following rideshare tools:

Trip Matching

Find others you live near you to share the ride to work or school.

Vanpool Matching
Find others who live near you to share the ride to work or school. These commute trips typically begin or end outside the seven-county metropolitan area. Use the Vanpool Finder to see if there are any vanpools in your area.
