What Is Rideshare?

Share the ride in a carpool and vanpool and you officially rideshare! We’ll help you get started and find a carpool or vanpool partner. Use our free Rideshare Planner to connect with others who are traveling the same direction and time.

> Rideshare Overview

Why Share The Ride?

You'll save on gas and parking expenses, plus help reduce congestion and air pollution. For a limited time, create a commuter account with our Rideshare Planner and we’ll send you a $10 gift card.

Carpoolers can use freeway express lanes, qualify for the Guaranteed Ride Home program and may qualify for free or reduced-price parking. Vanpoolers may qualify for Van-GO!, a regionally subsidized van lease program that turns long commutes into productive and relaxing rides. Vanpool drivers also receive incentives for participating.

How Do I Get Started?

  1. Create a commuter account or log in to an existing one and we’ll help you begin sharing the ride to work, school, sporting events, concerts or other destinations in the Twin Cities. If you are only interested in vanpooling, use the Vanpool Finder to see if one is in your area before you create a commuter account.
  2. Contact any match you find.
  3. If you don’t find a match at first, keep checking back because new potential rideshare partners are added to the list every day.
  4. Read these tips for forming a successful carpool.

Once you create a commuter account, you’ll have access to these rideshare tools:

Trip Matching
This tool helps you to share the ride to concerts, sporting events, business conferences or other one-time trips.

Carpool Matching
Find others you live near you to share the ride to work or school.

Vanpool Matching
Find others who live near you to share the ride to work or school. These commute trips typically begin or end outside the seven-county metropolitan area. Use the Vanpool Finder to see if there are any vanpools in your area.
