METRO TRANSIT HELPS FAIRGOERS SAVE ON GAS AND GATE ADMISSION
MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL – (Aug. 26) – Riding the bus to the Minnesota State Fair –always a convenient and economical alternative to driving – will be an even better deal on Wednesday, Aug. 27, Hop on Transit Day at the fair.
On Wednesday, Aug. 27 only, bus riders receive a coupon for $2 off State Fair admission tickets. The discount applies to anyone who pays a transit fare that day, whether it’s for a ride on a regular-route Metro Transit bus or on a State Fair Express bus from one of nine suburban park-and-ride lots. Admission discounts are available only on regular-price admission tickets purchased at the gate, and do not apply to free shuttle buses.
In addition, the fare for State Fair Express buses – normally $5 roundtrip – will be reduced to $3 throughout the day on Aug. 27. (Children ages four and under ride free daily.)
“Taking the bus to the fair on Hop On Transit Day saves $4 per person, which adds up quickly for families,” said Metro Transit General Manager Brian Lamb. “Plus buses take riders straight to the fairgrounds without having to look for and pay for parking.”
Detailed State Fair bus service information is available by touch-tone phone on NexTrip, a 24-hour automated information system, at 612-341-4287, and at metrotransit.org.
Metro Transit is a service of Metropolitan Council. Customers rode Metro Transit buses and trains 77 million times last year, the highest annual ridership in 25 years.
