Brooklyn Center Transit Center Station

Brooklyn Center Transit Center renovation project and construction updates

On Tuesday, Dec. 8, Metro Transit will reopen the external plaza to customers and bus operations. Routes 761 and 801 will remain on detour but all other routes will return to their designated gate assignments. Heating elements are available at boarding areas. Metro Transit is renovating the existing Brooklyn Center Transit Center. Construction began in mid-2020 with completion expected in early 2021. Approved for this renovation are:

  • Replacing plaza concrete
  • Improvements to accessibility
  • Canopies added at either end of the plaza
  • Adding ticket machines inside the station
  • Replacing all benches
  • Adding more bike racks
  • Refreshed interior
  • Renovated public restrooms
  • Allowing space for future artwork inside
