More companies offer Metropass – does yours?

More commuters than ever are hopping on a bus or train with a Metropass, a discounted annual transit pass available through their employers.

More than 132,054 people at 158 participating companies are eligible for the pass, which offers users unlimited rides on any Twin Cities bus or Hiawatha Line train. Once a company enrolls, its workers pay the company a monthly fee to participate. Some companies offer Metropass to their employees free of charge!

A benefit that goes beyond the commute

Metropass is a tool you can use to help recruit and retain employees. Since the pass is good for unlimited rides, holders can use them for trips beyond their work commute. For instance, if your employee is headed to a Twins game or other events around town, he or she can use a Metropass! All users need to do is touch their Metropass to a card reader (located next to the farebox on buses and next to rail station ticket machines) and hop on!

If you don’t already offer Metropass, contact Metro Transit or your local Transportation Management Organization (find contact information here). The pass is a great addition to a company’s benefits package, and employees get unlimited rides at a deep discount. For-profit companies that participate qualify for tax savings.
