Northwest Metro Restructuring
Note: This section provides background and policy information on Northwest Metro Transit Restructuring Plans implemented in 2007-2009. View route-by-route details on changes made to bus routes in the northwest metro.
The Northwest Metro Transit Restructuring Plan improved service in the area west of the Mississippi River and north of Highway 55.
Cities in the study area included Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, Champlin, Crystal, Golden Valley, Maple Grove, New Hope, north Minneapolis, Osseo, Plymouth and Robbinsdale.
The project's first phase started June 2, 2007. Metro Transit met with community leaders and elected officials to review a Concept Plan, which was the subject of public hearings in May and June of 2006. Feedback from more than 1,100 comments was reviewed and incorporated into the Final Plan that was approved by the Metropolitan Council on Dec. 13, 2006. See the timetable.
While the plan focused on what could be implemented in 2007, planners investigated possible links with the proposed Bottineau Boulevard bus rapid transit line.
