Bottineau Boulevard Transitway
The Bottineau Corridor is a radial transitway corridor extending from downtown Minneapolis through Robbinsdale, Crystal, Osseo, Brooklyn Park, Maple Grove, and potentially reaching the growing communities of Dayton, Rogers and Hassan Township. The length of the corridor, and the number of stations are still under study. The Bottineau Corridor will provide connections with rail and bus transit services in Downtown Minneapolis.
The transit mode for this corridor has not been determined. Earlier in the decade, studies were conducted in the corridor by Metropolitan Council for a bus rapid transit (BRT) line, under the project name Northwest Corridor Busway. In March of 2007, the Bottineau Boulevard Partnership passed a resolution to support an alternatives analysis study.
A Scoping Study was funded by Hennepin County Regional Railroad Authority (HCRRA) which was completed in June 2007. Since then, the HCRRA has authorized a $1 million dollar Alternatives Analysis (AA) study. A consultant should be selected early in 2008 to conduct this 18-month study. Results of the study will help identify the best mode and alignment in the corridor.
The Metropolitan Council identified Bottineu Corridor as a Tier 1 transitway in their 2030 Transit Plan, envisioning a revenue transit operation in the corridor by 2020.
