These routes changed on Sept. 8

Effective Saturday, Sept. 8, changes were made to routes operated by Metro Transit, Minnesota Valley Transit Authority and Maple Grove Transit. See below for an overview of the changes.

Updated printed schedules are available now on buses and trains and at Metro Transit stores and outlets. You can review online schedules now for the routes listed here.

Route 2 (eff. Sept. 4)

• Some westbound Route 2E trips that normally operate while the U of M is in session will be eliminated due to reduced customer demand.

• Schedule times for other Route 2E trips will be adjusted.


Route 3

• Frequency of service on Saturdays from 9 a.m. westbound to 10 p.m. eastbound will be every 15 minutes between downtown Minneapolis and Como & Snelling.

• An added Saturday eastbound trip will leave Ramp B/5th St. Transit Center at 11:43 p.m.


Route 5

• (eff. Aug. 27) Trips will be added for service to Henry and North high schools. The trips will operate only when school is in session.

• The weekday northbound Route 5F trip leaving Mall of America Transit Station at 8:56 p.m. will become a Route 5M trip.

• Schedule times will be adjusted to better match customer demand.


Route 6 (eff. Aug. 27)

• Trips will be added for service to Southwest High School. The trips will operate only when school is in session.


Route 10

• The weekday southbound trip from Columbia Heights Transit Center at 9:11 a.m. will instead leave from 53rd Ave. NE & SuperTarget at 9:04 a.m.


Route 11 (eff. Aug. 27)

• Trips will be added for service to Washburn High School. The trips will operate only when school is in session.

• The timepoint at Pleasant & 50th will move to Wentworth & 49th.


Route 12

• Schedule times will be adjusted to better match traffic conditions.


Route 14 (eff. Aug. 27)

• Trips will be added for service to Roosevelt High School. The trips will operate only when school is in session.

Route 16 (eff. Sept. 4)

• Some trips that normally operate while the U of M is in session will be eliminated due to reduced customer demand.

• Schedule times will be adjusted to better match customer demand.

Route 18 (eff. Aug. 27)

• The weekday northbound trips for Washburn High School from Nicollet Ave. & 46th at 3:13 p.m. and 3:19 p.m. will instead leave from the new timepoint at Stevens & Diamond Lk. Rd. at 3:04 p.m. and 3:10 p.m., respectively. The trips will operate only when school is in session.

Routes 19 (eff. Aug. 27)

• Trips will be added for service to Henry High School. The trips will operate only when school is in session.

• A timepoint will be added at Morgan Ave. N and 43rd Ave. N.

Route 21

• Frequency of service will be improved and schedule times adjusted on Saturdays to better match customer demand.

• The Saturday eastbound trip leaving Uptown Transit Station at 7:42 a.m. will extend to downtown St. Paul, serving the 9 a.m. work-start time.

• Schedule times on weekdays will be adjusted to better match customer demand.

• Two eastbound Route 21E trips and two westbound trips will be added between 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. on weekdays to better match customer demand. Two of the trips will operate only when Minneapolis Public Schools are in session.

Route 22 (eff. Aug. 27)

• Trips will be added for service to Roosevelt High School. The trips will operate only when school is in session.

Route 23 (eff. Aug. 27)

• Trips will be added for service to Roosevelt High School. The trips will operate only when school is in session.

Route 32 (eff. Aug. 27)

• Frequency of service during the midday will improve to every half hour.

• Trips will be added for service to Edison High School. The trips will operate only when school is in session.

• New Route 32C service will operate on Penn and 26th avenues.

• New Route 32D service will operate on 51st Ave., Penn, 49th Ave., Bryant, 45th Ave. and Lyndale.

• New Route 32E service will operate on Plymouth Ave., Fremont/Emerson, Broadway and 2nd
St. NE.

• Timepoints will be added at 51st Ave. N & Brooklyn Blvd., Plymouth Ave. N & Wirth Pkwy., 26th & West Broadway, Lowry Ave. N & Penn, 49th Ave. N & Humboldt Ave. N, West Broadway & Emerson, Lyndale Ave. N & 42nd Ave. N, Lowry & Lyndale, Broadway St. NE & 2nd St. NE, Lowry Ave. NE & 2nd St. NE and Quincy St. NE & 22nd Ave. NE.

• Timepoints will be eliminated at Lowry Ave. N & Fremont Ave. N and Lowry Ave. N & Washington.

• A new printed schedule will be available when the Lowry Ave. bridge reopens this fall. Schedule times will be adjusted to better reflect traffic conditions.

Route 46

• (eff. Aug. 27) Trips will be added for service to Washburn High School. The trips will operate only when school is in session.

• Some trips will be eliminated due to reduced customer demand.

• Schedule times will be adjusted to better match customer demand.

• (eff. Aug. 27) These trips will be rerouted via 50th and Pleasant (Washburn High School): the eastbound trips starting at 50th & France at 7:30 a.m. and Vernon & Eden at 8:02 a.m., and the westbound trip starting at Madison & West 7th St. at 2:33 p.m.

Route 50 (eff. Sept. 4)

• Some trips that normally operate while the U of M is in session will be eliminated due to reduced customer demand.

• Schedule times will be adjusted to better match customer demand.


Route 54

• To better match customer demand, frequency of service on Sundays will be every 20 minutes between 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. westbound and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. eastbound.

Route 59

• The timepoint at Central & 53rd Ave. NE will move to Central & 51st Ave. NE.

• A timepoint will be added at 53rd Ave. NE & SuperTarget.

• Southbound trips that begin at Central & 53rd Ave. NE will instead begin at 53rd Ave. NE & SuperTarget.

• The northbound trips leaving Leamington Ramp at 3:08, 3:35 and 4:16 p.m. will extend to 53rd Ave. NE & SuperTarget.

• Designated bus stops for limited stop service will be adjusted.

• Schedule times will be adjusted to better match traffic conditions.

Route 68

• Evening service south of downtown will be doubled seven days a week.

• Some schedule times on weekdays will be adjusted to better match customer demand and improve reliability.

• Saturday evening trips will be extended to 80th St. & Concord.

• Sunday evening will have some changes to northbound schedule times and routings.

Route 111, 113, 114, 115, 579 (eff. Sept. 4)

Route 111

• Some trips that normally operate while the U of M is in session will be eliminated due to reduced customer demand.

• Schedule times for other trips will be adjusted.

Route 113, 114, 115

• Service will increase to accommodate demand with the start of the U of M’s fall semester.

Route 579

• Service will increase to accommodate demand with the start of the U of M’s fall semester.

• Northbound trips will no longer stop at I-35W & Lake St. to avoid significant traffic delays.

• Schedule times will be adjusted to better match traffic conditions.

Route 118 (eff. Sept. 4)

• Some trips that normally operate while the U of M is in session will be eliminated due to reduced customer demand.

Route 252 (eff. Sept. 4)

• Service will increase to accommodate demand with the start of the U of M’s fall semester.


Route 272 (eff. Sept. 4)

• Some trips that normally operate while the U of M is in session will be eliminated due to reduced customer demand.


Route 288

• The northbound trips leaving 2nd Ave. S. & 11th St. at 4:43 p.m. and 5:07 p.m. will instead leave one minute earlier.


Route 467

• The northbound trip from Kenrick Ave. Park & Ride at 7:19 a.m. will instead leave at 7:21 a.m. to better match customer demand.


Route 515

• Weekday evening and Saturday evening frequency of service will improve to 20 minutes through 9:30 p.m.

• Schedule times will be adjusted on the Sunday westbound trip leaving Mall of America Station at 6:15 a.m. to improve connections with other routes at Southdale.


Route 540/542

Route 540

• Schedule times for weekday westbound trips during the midday will be adjusted to improve connections with trains at Mall of America Station.

Route 542

• Schedule times for weekday westbound trips during the midday and late afternoon rush-hour trips will be adjusted to improve connections with trains at Mall of America Station.

 

Route 587 (eff. June 18)

• Two afternoon schedule times were adjusted to improve connections with Route 765 from Target North Campus.

 

Route 652 (eff. Sept. 4)

• Service will increase to accommodate demand with the start of the U of M’s fall semester.

 

Route 670

• Schedule times will be adjusted to better match traffic conditions.

 

Route 724 (eff. Aug. 27)

• An added northbound trip will leave Carew Dr. & 7th St. S. at 7:22 a.m.

 

Route 765

• (eff. June 18) An added northbound trip leaves 2nd Ave. S. & 10th St. at 8:13 a.m.

• The southbound trip added June 11 from Target North Campus at 5:45 p.m. will instead leave at 5:40 p.m. to improve connections with Route 587.

 

Route 766

• One of the southbound trips from Hwy. 610 & Noble Pkwy. Park & Ride at 7:12 a.m. will be eliminated due to low customer demand; the second trip will instead leave at 7:10 a.m. and be assigned a larger (accordion-style) bus.

• The northbound trips from 2nd Ave. S & 10th St. S. at 3:58, 4:06 and 4:12 p.m. will instead leave at 3:59, 4:08 and 4:14 p.m., respectively.

 

Route 850/852

Route 850

• The northbound Route 850F trip from 2nd Ave. S. & 11th St. S. at 3:09 p.m. will become a Route 850A trip, extending to Anoka Technical College.

• The northbound Route 850F trip from 2nd Ave. S. & 11th St. S. at 3:53 p.m. will instead leave at 3:50 p.m. and become a Route 850A trip, extending to Anoka Technical College.

• Some schedule times will be adjusted to better match customer demand.

• An added southbound trip will leave Foley Park & Ride at 8:52 a.m.

Route 852

• An added northbound Route 852A trip will leave 2nd Ave. S. & 11th St. S. at 8:38 p.m.

• The northbound Route 852A trip leaving downtown at 3:29 p.m. will change to Route 852F trip, ending at Foley Park & Ride.

 

Route 854

• Schedule times will be adjusted to better match customer demand.

• The northbound Route 854N trip from 2nd Ave. S. & 11th St. at 5:00 p.m. will be eliminated due to low customer demand.

 

Minnesota Valley Transit Authority

Changes are effective Sept. 4.


Route 421

• Trip connections at Savage Park & Ride will be eliminated due to changes to Route 444 schedules.

Route 444

• Northbound and southbound run times will be adjusted on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Trip start and end times will be adjusted accordingly, with holding times constant at Cedar Grove Transit Station.

Route 465

• This route will serve Burnsville only. Except for portions of Portland Ave., McAndrews Rd. and Nicollet Ave., the local branch between Apple Valley Transit Station and Burnsville Transit Station will be eliminated.

• Schedule during peak hours, peak direction will have 15-minute frequencies, with alternating trips serving and skipping the South Bloomington Transit Center.

• Mid-day, there will be 30-minute frequency, and all trips will serve South Bloomington Transit Center and downtown Minneapolis. Alternating trips originate at Cty. Rd. 42 and Portland Ave.

• There will be improved connections between Route 465 and northbound and southbound Route 444 service at Burnsville Transit Station.

Route 475

• All trips will begin at Apple Valley Transit Station and then serve Cedar Grove Transit Station.

• Trip times will be adjusted at Cedar Grove and northbound run time from Lake Street to 19th Ave. & Old Washington will be increased by one minute.

• These northbound trips will be added:

- Departing Apple Valley at 6:33 a.m. and departing Cedar Grove at 6:45 a.m. (skipping downtown)

- Departing Apple Valley at 9:56 a.m. and departing Cedar Grove at 10:08 a.m. (serving downtown).

• These southbound trips will be added:

- Departing Ridder Arena at 3:10 p.m. (serving downtown) and arriving at Cedar Grove at 3:59 p.m. and at Apple Valley at 4:11 p.m.

- Departing Ridder Arena at 6:10 p.m. (skipping downtown) and arriving at Cedar Grove at 6:42 p.m. and at Apple Valley at 6:54 p.m.

Route 480

• The trip from Heart of the City will begin two minutes earlier at 6:59 a.m.

 

Maple Grove Transit


Route 781

• The first morning trip will leave Maple Grove Transit Station at 5:49 a.m.

 

Route 785

• The afternoon trip from 2nd Ave. & 10th St. at 4:20 p.m. will instead leave at 4:16 p.m.

 

Route 788

• Service has been eliminated on segments east of West Fish Lk. Rd. along Bass Lk. Rd. due to low customer demand.

• Service has been added to the southwest corner of Maple Grove; buses will travel on Vicksburg Ln., Nottingham Pkwy., Bass Lk. Rd. and Lawndale Ln.

• Timepoints will be added at Lawndale Ln. & Fieldstone and Bass Lk. Rd. & Lawndale Ln.

• The timepoint at Quinwood & 62nd Place will be eliminated.

• Schedule times will be adjusted slightly.

 

Route 789

• Service will be restored for the start of the U of M’s fall semester.

• The trip from 4th St. & Ridder Arena at 5:45 p.m. will be eliminated.

• Savings will be reinvested into a new trip from 4th St. & Ridder Arena at 2:45 p.m.

• The 4:45 p.m. trip is now labeled as trip #2.
